Life is good. You have everything planned out to make it even better. Things seem to finally be coming together. And then…bam! PLOT TWIST.
“What the heck? But this isn’t part of the plan!”
Life loves to throw you those seemingly annoying curveballs at you, am I right?
But you see, they aren’t curveballs at all. You just see them that way.
Right now I’m in a season of waiting. There are a lot of changes and unknowns ahead. It’s uncomfortable, difficult, and if I’m being honest, a little scary.
I’ve realized a big thing I need to work on with myself is surrendering control and TRUSTING in my higher power. While some days I do fine with this, other days that is just not the case.
Those “other days” I usually get sucked into the classic bottomless pit of over-thinking, fear, and worry. Then the light bulb jolts on, the light shines through, the gospel choir starts singing…okay okay it isn’t that dramatic….BUT this is when I realize that this is no where near the plan I had for myself, but it is God’s plan.
If this is my calling, then God knew I would eventually go after it. And He already knows the obstacles I will face and overcome.
If my fiancé is going after what he believes to be his calling, then God has the future in His own hands. And I need to support all of the changes this will bring.
And if my brother is fighting this battle with his health, then I know God will be right there with him to the finish line. And I need to not worry.
We all have had, will have, or do have things in life that happen that we never expected to happen. These things don’t follow our plan, our road map, our design. But we need to switch our mindset. We need to start believing that we are right where we are supposed to be.
Instead of thinking life is happening to us. Let’s start believing life is happening for us. Everything that is happening is meant to be our story. It is meant to unfold just as it is to make us the people we are meant to be. So let it happen. And trust that God knows what He is doing.
Maybe you don’t believe in God. But at least believe that the universe has your back. At least believe that you are meant to do good, and be good, and feel good. Life isn’t trying to break you. Life isn’t trying to wear you down. Sorry for the tough love, but you’re doing that on your own!
If that’s you, then I beg of you…go for a run, watch something funny, laugh with a friend, cry if you need to, do SOMETHING, do ANYTHING to wake yourself up… and find the glimmer of hope you need to realize this life is all going according to a better plan than you had for yourself.
This life is not in your own hands. This life is bigger than you.
And that’s okay.
In fact, it’s wonderful.
