Think about all of those things you’ve dreamed about as a child. And think about all of those dreams you’re holding onto now.
No, really. Close your eyes and think about it.
How many of those dreams have you let go of? Maybe your dreams changed and evolved. Maybe you opened up to someone about your dream and they told you that it would never happen. Or maybe life happened. Things got busy, you lost track of time, and all of a sudden it’s 10 years later and you never did what you said you wanted to. Whatever it is, I want you to know that it is never too late to start working towards your dreams.
In a world full of constant noise and opinions buzzing around, it’s so easy to dream but way harder to actually go after it. If you’re anything like me, you may fall into the endless pit of comparing yourself to so many of those around you and inevitably start to talk yourself out of going after your goals. You start coming up with reasons why it will never happen. You get scared of a full life and the lies begin.
“It will never happen.”
“It’s too hard.”
“Who am I to think I could actually do that?”
“Life isn’t all that bad. I guess I can live without it.”
But if you never go after what you’re called to do, you’ll have a hard time feeling fulfilled. And that fulfilling life is out there waiting for you. You just have to you stop thinking you’re crazy for your dreams and start going after them.
God has a plan for you. That dream that’s been placed in your heart and can’t shake it off? That was God’s doing. It’s a calling. He does this to wake you up! He wouldn’t have instilled that dream in your heart if He wasn’t going to help you achieve it. Dreams can be scary, but don’t be too scared of greatness to listen to Him. Keep an open heart and an open mind and follow that inner voice.
Chasing Your Dreams will Strengthen Your Faith. And trust me, your path to fulfilling your dreams will take some serious faith. It’s not all going to be laid out for you. There will be tons of uncertainty, and tons of mountains to climb over. But you’ll never be alone, and your faith will only get stronger and stronger.
Your gifts are precious. God has given each and every one of us gifts, and NEWS FLASH: they have nothing to do with you. It’s SO much bigger than that. You gifts are meant to be shared for God’s purpose. If your dreams involve using your gifts for good, or will help you get closer to achieving your dreams, you’d honestly be crazier to keep your gifts contained solely to yourself.
The people who tell you, “You can’t,” are the same ones who don’t. All of us are told lies throughout our lives. But we don’t have to believe everything we hear. Those people telling you that your dream is too crazy or too big are the same people who never went after their own dreams. If we were to listen to what everyone else’s opinion, we will constantly waiver. If you feel yourself being called to do something, shut out the noise, and just do it.
Now all that being said, let’s make one thing clear: I am not implying that you shouldn’t be grateful for where you are now. Just because you have dreams of something “better” does NOT mean you are free to be bitter and disappointed in where you are right now. You’re right where you are supposed to be. I repeat. You’re right where you are supposed to be. For now, anyways.
Stay humble, stay thankful, but keep working hard. Trust that things will work out in His timing.
In the meantime, never apologize for going after your dreams. Never feel guilty or selfish. Because if that dream keeps coming back into your heart even after pushing it out, chances are you are meant to do it! Keep dreaming, dreamers, and dream big 🙂
He has made everything beautiful [and appropriate] in His time. Ecclesiastes 3:11
